Criminal Defence Fee's

Guilty Plea From £600 + VAT

The fees would cover the following work:

Initial meeting, taking your instructions, drafting of letters and necessary contact with your lawyer, considering the evidence necessary to your case, advising you and representation at court including any post court work.

This does not include disbursements such as reasonable travel costs or instruction of any experts. This will all be discussed and agreed with you before any work is undertaken.

Basic Trial Start From £1,000 + VAT

This will include everything mentioned above plus representation at your trial and any subsequent hearings. As well as any preparatory work such as taking witness statements and your instructions.

This does not include disbursements such as reasonable travel costs or instruction of any experts. This will all be discussed and agreed with you before any work is undertaken.

More Complex Trial Start From £2,000 + VAT

This will include everything that is included in the trial fees.

Appeal costs are generally twice the amount and are not included in the basic fees.

All cases are under the supervision of a Senior Solicitor and conducted by a Solicitor assisted by a Caseworker.

Fees do not include the cost of travel outside the London area (charged at 50% of the hourly rate) or disbursements such as medical fee and expert reports which can range from as little as £100 to as much as £2,000 plus VAT depending on the type of report, or travel expenses at public transport rates of £0.45 per mile plus VAT.

All fees are based on our standard hourly rates of £200 - £250 for Solicitors, and £100 - £150 for Paralegals. All fees attract VAT (20%)

We always agree fees with our clients beforehand and you will know what the costs are without having to worry about any hidden costs or costs spiralling out of control.

In general, cases can take anywhere from three months to a year and more. This depends on how busy the courts are and whether you are pleading guilty or having a trial. .

The key stages of your case will be:

  • Initial instructions and agreeing fees
  • Attending court
  • If you plead not guilty, preparatory work for your trial including detailed instructions as well as taking any witness statements
  • Representation at your trial or sentence hearing
